The College of Media held a scientific symposium titled "The Role of Media in Promoting Intellectual Awareness" in collaboration with the Continuing Education Division and the General Directorate for Combating Intellectual Terrorism – Kirkuk Office. The event was attended by the Dean of the College of Media, alongside a distinguished group of faculty members, staff, and students.
The symposium opened with a speech delivered by the Head of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, emphasizing the importance of media in enhancing social discipline and combating extremist ideologies. He highlighted the significant role of media in spreading awareness and fostering values of social cohesion.
The symposium covered several key topics:
- Professor Bilal Qais Kamal from the Directorate of Safety and Intellectual Security discussed the role of media in promoting respect for the rule of law, the challenges facing its implementation, and the importance of awareness communication in combating terrorism at local, regional, and international levels.
- Professor Anmar Zuhair Mohammed from the General Directorate for Combating Intellectual Terrorism focused on the pivotal role of media in societal awareness and education, reinforcing sound societal thinking.
