The College of Media Organizes an Awareness Seminar on Combating Drug Abuse

The College of Media, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Division and the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, organized an educational seminar titled "Combating Drug Abuse: A National Approach and Institutional Priority." The seminar was held in partnership with the Public Relations and Media Directorate of the Anti-Narcotics Department in Kirkuk Province.

The keynote speaker was Engineer Shwan Najat Mohammed, Director of Public Relations and Media at the Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Control in Kirkuk. The session was moderated by Dr. Abdullah Abdul-Majeed.

The seminar addressed several key topics, including an introduction to narcotics, their types and classifications, symptoms of substance abuse, and the physical, psychological, and social impacts of drug use. It also explored the vital role of families and communities in combating addiction, alongside the most effective prevention methods to curb the spread of this phenomenon.

This initiative is part of a series of awareness activities organized by the College of Media, aiming to raise societal awareness about the dangers of drugs and underscore the importance of collective efforts in addressing this pressing issue.
